David Barnes

Creston, BC

Description

There comes a point in life, for most people when you realize that there is a limited amount of time left. During a more pressured moment in my life, I found a need to express some of my feelings and frustrations, by creating a piece of sculpture that expressed some of those emotions. I considered all that goes into the Circle of Life, what drives us on, our constant battle against the clock and those times when you reach that breaking point. Sometimes it just seems that a constant need to survive prevents you from achieving greater goals.

Bio

Originally from Kent, England, internationally recognized artist David Barnes now resides in Creston, BC. His work spans ceramics, public art, and large-scale sculpture, including the acclaimed Hands and Molecules in the UK. Time Piece reflects on the pressures of modern life, the passage of time, and the tension between survival, resilience, and personal fulfillment. The sculpture considers the emotional weight many people carry while navigating work, responsibility, and ambition, reminding viewers that even in moments of strain and uncertainty there remains strength, determination, and hope.
