As a male artist, I’ve always thought of an artist’s muse as a female. The Muse combines landscapes as a muse to some of Canada’s famous artists with a female torso. Enjoy.

Winlaw artist Peter Vogelaar has spent decades creating sculpture across a wide range of mediums, including snow, sand, ice, painting, and metalwork. A graduate of the Kootenay School of the Arts and a multiple Sculpturewalk People’s Choice winner, Vogelaar is known for creating imaginative, technically accomplished work that resonates strongly with the public. The Muse combines the form of the female torso with the Canadian landscape, reflecting on the idea of nature as artistic inspiration. The sculpture explores the longstanding relationship between artists and the land, suggesting that creativity often emerges through emotional and spiritual connection to place.
