Cawston, BC

Description

This is about the viewer looking and seeing their reflection, and maybe they are a lil mischievous like a coyote.

Bio

Similkameen artist Les Louis of the Okanagan Nation works across many mediums, drawing inspiration from storytelling, symbolism, and traditional Indigenous imagery. His recent sculptural work explores Okanagan pictograph forms and cultural narratives through bold contemporary design. Reflection invites viewers to see themselves within the mischievous and transformative spirit of Coyote, an important figure within Indigenous storytelling traditions. The sculpture plays with reflection, identity, and humour while encouraging personal interpretation. Through vibrant imagery and simplified forms, Louis creates a work that feels playful yet meaningful, connecting contemporary audiences to enduring stories, teachings, and cultural memory.
