Description

The nautilus is ever curious, probing, and feeling. Bathing within nature's glimmers. Love is our way forward. Be the change. Embrace curiosity. Think critically. Choose kindness.

Bio

Biologist and artist Erick James combines science and sculpture to reveal the hidden wonders of the natural world. A graduate of both UBC and Selkirk College’s Kootenay School of the Arts, his work bridges scientific observation and artistic imagination. Inspired by the nautilus, this piece celebrates exploration, kindness, critical thinking, and humanity’s enduring connection to nature. The sculpture draws attention to the beauty and complexity often overlooked in the microscopic and marine worlds. Through elegant forms and thoughtful symbolism, James encourages viewers to remain inquisitive, compassionate, and open to discovery in both science and everyday life.
