Description

An Uncanny Creature made from recycled steel.

Bio

Raised in Alberta and now based in High River, Sophia DePaoli studied fine arts at Concordia University before pursuing blacksmithing and welding at Selkirk College. Currently completing her welding apprenticeship while launching her own forging studio, DePaoli works primarily with recycled steel to create playful and uncanny sculptural creatures that blur the line between humour and fantasy. Majyk Chicken combines whimsy and strangeness, transforming industrial materials into an imaginative character full of personality. The sculpture embraces curiosity and absurdity while showcasing DePaoli’s emerging voice as a metal artist, inviting viewers to enjoy the unexpected charm and eccentricity.
