Kate Tupper

Nakusp, BC

Description

Each surface of this device offers opportunity for activation as the sun moves across the sky and is mirrored on its angled surfaces.

Bio

Nakusp artist Kate Tupper combines welding, sculpture, and installation practices to create ambitious large-scale public artworks throughout western Canada. With a background in trades and heavy construction, she brings a strong understanding of industrial materials to her work. A multiple Sculpturewalk award winner recognized by the Canada Council as a professional artist, Tupper often incorporates movement, light, reflection, and interaction with the environment. Golden Hours responds dynamically to shifting sunlight, using reflective surfaces that transform throughout the day and encourage viewers to experience the sculpture through changing light, weather, and perspective.
