Description

The inspiration for this sculpture comes from my niece, Zoey, who is bravely battling Mitochondrial disease. Through this work, I hope to raise awareness for continued research, so that one day there will be a cure.

Bio

Kootenay metal artist Lisa Huth draws inspiration from nature and personal experience, using sculpture to spark conversation and awareness. Trained in welding and blacksmithing, she creates expressive works from forged steel that combine technical skill with emotional depth. Forging Light was inspired by her niece’s courageous battle with Mitochondrial disease and serves as both a tribute to resilience and a call for greater awareness and research support. The sculpture reflects strength, hope, and perseverance in the face of adversity, while reminding viewers of the profound impact compassion, community, and advocacy can have on families navigating difficult challenges.
