Kootenay-based artist Shayna creates both functional and decorative artwork driven by emotion, intuition, and material exploration. A graduate of the Kootenay School of the Arts Sculptural Metals program, she works across a range of mediums including metal and stone while also working professionally as a welder millwright. Cast in bronze, Beautifully Broken features two fragmented torso figures exploring vulnerability, endurance, and the emotional weight carried within the human body. Rough textures and fractured openings reveal both strength and damage, creating forms that feel powerful, raw, and deeply human while reflecting the beauty that can emerge through imperfection, resilience, and healing.
