Nelson-based artist Nathan Smith began working with metal in 2003, launching his business Sunsmith Design in 2016. Renowned for his sculptural sundials, (at the Calgary Zoo and in Summerland), his public art career has flourished with commissions throughout BC and Alberta, including two artistic railings commissioned by the City of Nelson. Nathan, who finds joy in the creative process of designing and fabricating, is inspired by nature and beautiful design, blending modern metalwork with curves and flair.

A collaboration between Nathan and his teenage son Sabian, 13, RUFOUS is a study in capturing weightlessness and movement through the medium of steel.
