Fred Dobbs

Sidney, BC

Frequent Sculpturewalk participant Fred Dobbs is comfortable in almost any medium, from concrete to ice, bronze and even food! Always appealing and masterfully done, the Victoria artist’s work is acclaimed internationally.
The Exchange depicts a life-size raven holding a chess piece in its beak. The third in a series of raven sculptures exploring the impact these animals have on human culture around the world, the symbolism is drawn from a story of British origin, whereupon it is said that at all times there must be at least six ravens at the Tower of London, otherwise the British Empire shall fall.
